Supporting communities to claim remedy and rights

Independent accountability mechanisms (IAMs) allow communities affected by harmful projects to seek remedy and hold financiers accountable. These mechanisms, housed within international financial institutions, provide a formal pathway for raising complaints when projects cause environmental and social harm.

When communities are affected by harmful projects, they can hold the financiers of the project accountable for the harms suffered.

Recourse works with partners in-country to support communities in using independent accountability mechanisms to challenge harm, trigger investigations, and pursue remedy.
